Hi Robin What do you mean by Clone Cars ?
Of course I have no idea how many get scrapped nor do I get to know who gets rid of theirs.
A few weeks ago I spent a few days Checking all know Reg Numbers against the DVLA to get a rough idea of how many were TAXED & SORN I came up with 270 SORN and; 200 Taxed. Of course people change Reg number to & from PRIVATE & I don’t get to know so there could be even more. What I have noticed is the number now showing SORN has increased dramatically since it became compulsary.
Having been asked, since posting the “Production Figures” doc/Photo How many were UK I thought I had better update it so here is the first publication & you can take a screen shot I also included UK located.
Hi Robin Can you fit the hood cover correctly & use the press studs that are on the rear inside the car.? Or are they hidden by the new rear seat ?
Hi Robin
Thats nothing to do with me–
How far do you go yours is 1 of 219 / 1 of 12 3.6 / 1 of 7 RHD in DorchesterAll I have to do is manipulate the Spread sheet using filters & I can come up with whatever,
But is it worth it take a look at the top of the page

This question keeps arising & I keep telling the same answer Only one Cabriolet left the factory with rear seats Lady Di was deemed a responsible person so permission was given, Also as the car was being fitted with & still has a hard top the possibility of de capitation was no longer a possibility. A few months ago some one asked the same question on my Face Book GROUP & one of my members on there that I got to know at JDHT & had worked on all 5,013 answered the question “No other Cabriolets left B L with rear seats. So far of all the photographs of conversions none match that of the Diana Cabriolet.Regards Bleasie.
If I am right this must be your Cabriolet, Had difficulty locating “Woodsmoke”
Hi Leroy welcome
Not sure if you told Laurence the history behind your 2 Cabriolets both Tickford built I have quite a write up from when I found 113789.
What’s the story behind the side exit exhaust certainly not standard ?
This is how it was described back in 2014.May 02, 2014. Has an Unknown Reserve Price and it now says it has 99,000 miles. Had 100,117 miles when it was last seen. Listing says “Jaguar XJS Super Cat Cabriolet 3.6 XK Twin Cam. This is a very spacial XJS Cabriolet built by Aston Martin Tickford. I have a very rare Jaguar super cat twin cam 3.6 XK Engine with 30 years of competition, a distinguished engineering pedigree sports Cabriolet. One of only 130 built by Aston-Martin-Tickford from 1982-1985 for Jaguar.
Photo 935 does not exist
As for 112162 the listing says “Jaguar XJS Cabriolet, pre production factory prototype, with extensive modifications. Reputedly this is the car shown on the Jaguar stand at Earls Court in October 1983 to launch the new XJ-SC Cabriolet. It is the 24th Cabriolet ever built. Owned by Jaguar Cars for the first four years and used as Press Car and as a Demonstrator. The car has been extensively modified and the current specifications are: A 4 litre 6-cylinder engine fitted with AJ6 Engineering large bore plenum chamber and inlet manifold, AJ6 Engineering modified ECU, Lightened steel flywheel, Stainless steel large bore straight through free flow custom made exhaust, Alleged bhp is in excess of 300bhp, 5-speed Getrag gearbox. Brakes are Front, 15inch diameter AP Racing ventilated discs and calipers (same spec as XJ220), Rear, inboard AP Racing ventilated discs and calipers (same spec as XJ220). Stainless steel braided flexible hoses. Suspension is Jaguar Sport (Bilstein yellows) shock absorbers front and rear. Jaguar Sport front and rear anti roll bars. Harvey Bailey Engineering under body cruciform. Jaguar Sport steering rack. Wheels are 17 inch Jaguar Supercharged Saloon alloys with 255/45 ZR17 Tyres. The car itself has not been used for many years and will require complete restoration. The interior has been removed and placed in boxes, believed to be complete but will need restoration. A quick look underneath reveals an advanced state of corrosion in all the usual XJS places. Please assure yourself that this is no weekend project. I have not tried to start the car but will do so before auction end if that is possible”. Per a message from Kevin Haslam on August 24, 2015, the car is now in a salvage yard. Ex David Rosser. Jaguar Sales & Marketing pre-production special development car.
Thanks Christopher for supplying the VIN
Your Cabriolet which has been on the Data Base for over 20 years First Registered C 200 CJO (Oxford) owned for many years by O J Wells, is not a Tickford built car, it is car number 488 build date—- 15-May-85
Although there is no record of when the change over was it’s thought to be Circa 100 .
Hi Evert
The number on the left hand side is know as the Castle Bromwich Body number again not listed
Thanks for supplying your boot number ( Body Shell Number )Cheers Bleasie.

Have already been through this & supplied photos
Know nothing about 134821 I don’t have it on the Data Base
Hi John
I remember you wanting to join The XJ-SC Register Facebook group & I asked for your Vin you told me all the markings had been removed. I remember yo did have your engine number 8S51252, so according to me it should be VIN 141229.
Do you have some photographs of your car ?
John
At the time of posting it was just to show how the hood cover should be fitted there that that nothing not even it’s Vin then I discovered it is the car that’s up for sale for £59K yes £59,000. No full service history, a real bad MOT history which does not look as though it has been looked after despite the advert indicating it has led a cosseted life. OH wrong steering wheel for year.
Interesting thread until today as far as I was aware all hood covers were the same, Yet although Martin says his was made from one borrowed & used as a pattern something looks wrong, Compare the following photos & see if you can see what I mean. It looks as though the hood has not been folded correctly only last weekend Bryan had to show a lady who has owned her Cabriolet for 20 years how to fold it & her cover fitted perfectly for the first time in 20 years.
There are no details against Geoff’s name — Ten years since Geoff signed up to the original JAGICR.CO.UK
Well Trevor Kent you certainly proved me wrong glad to hear not only did the conversion go well but that the trips went well.
Why not put the story of the conversion together and get Laurence to post it will save future owners having to start from square one Just a thought.BLEASIE
The Reg # S 33 TRU has been on a TROOPER CITATION DT SWB since 2001 Nothing to indicate it was ever on one of our Cabriolet’s.
Great just typed in wipers & bingo straight there,
Sorry Jon
No information on another one over there Jon, other than the Reg number which I picked up from the build sheet——————— MAN 123 J (Isle of Man——Sebring Red (CDJ 287) V12-Bleasie
Hi Malcolm
Looks as though you have got your work cut out I spotted it when it was up for sale & the Data Base indicated that the Tax ran out in April 2002 so I assumed it had either gone abroad or been scrapped. From one of the photos )which I would post if were not so difficult) looks as though the front wheel has sunk well and truly how long had it stood in the field?I understand it’s a one previous owner.
Regards
BLEASIE
Cabriolet Register.Hi Gerben
Afraid these rear quarter light seals have not been available for almost 20 years
Many years ago I tried with Jaguar Classic Parts to get these reproduced but the cost made them prohibitive.
Regards
Bleasie.Cheers Laurence Both from Richard Marsh’s cars if my records are still up to date.
