    Hi Steven Foster

It would be interesting to find out where you read that snipped of information, as popular belief is that the only one Jaguar Produced from the factory is Lady Diana’s Cabriolet – the rest were after sale dealer conversions etc.

    Hi Gerben

The front roof area is a common target for rust on our cars, whether in Coupe or Cabriolet version – in fact the situation is made worse on our Cabriolet’s by the presence of the textile glued over the metal work. When I had my Targa panels painted red (rather than have them recovered) i had this front roof section painted as well, and we discovered rust starting to take hold there.

So yes, a warning to all Cabriolet onwers is to physically check that front roof section, by passing your hand over the textile covering and see if you can determine any change of shape which may be rust underneath…

Factory has produced a sample of the Targa aperture rubber seals – I just haven’t had time to go pick it up yet, but hope to in the next few days.

Yes there is a company that, at a cost, provide a complete kit of the rear hood, Targa Panel cover and front roof surrround material – I will see if I can find their details.

The XJS Club have agreed to help advertise the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Event I’m organising, which is definately too far for you to bring you car to – probably couldn’t be geographically further away from Coventry 🙂

Glad you’ve joined us, and hopefully you’ll enjoy membership of the Club and locate other members, Steve Gibbs is a Cabriolet owning member somewhere on your island 🙂

I’m pleased to say that we’ve quite a lot of cars registered already for this Exclusively XJS event.

I’m hoping for a really good turn out from the XJS Soft Tops Club – seeing as we’re the Club that’s effectively hosting it for all the others to come along and join us.

While you’re out and about at shows and meet ups, please spread the word – if you’d like me to send you a PDF of the Promotional Leaflet just get in contact via the Contact Form

Here’s the Registration Link if you’d like to come along Click Here

    Hi John

Thanks for sharing that – it is great to see someone having warm weather and to enjoy driving their Jaguar around so much. Even UK summer months seem to have 1/2 the days with it raining or overcast.

The garage has asked I don’t do anything with these wings on the donor car until they have conducted further investigation work on Pawla (my V12 Cabriolet)  if they’re not needed for Pawla then they unbolt it and I can send you better photos – I guess I could possibly bring it to the Sunday Lunch meet up at The Old White Beare on 4th March if you’re coming

    Hi Alan Tew

Not sure it is particularly good, but I will ask the garage to take some photos for me and you can decided.

Unfortunately I won’t be down in London for the show, but I believe a number of other members are attending so hopefully they will drop by and say hi.

We have a Clbu Social Meet up planned for Sunday 18th March at the Clock Warehouse, near Derby (see Events section) – you’d be most welcome to join us. I will send you the February Newsletter.

Will you be brining Millie to the Jaguar Land Rover Classic Works event on the 15th September ?

    Hi Per Arne Harefallet

Alan’s correct, the only car that had factory fitted rear seats was Princess Diana’s. Her car though was always fitted with the rear Hardtop rather than the fold down hood – possibly as there was concern that someone in the back of the car might stand up and could injure themselves on the Targa Top’s T-bar if the car suddenly stopped.

Many owners wanted 4 seats, so many of the dealerships were happy to supply a Cabriolet with seats fitted from a Coupe – with the deal arranging to have the rear locker box out taken out and rear seats fitted. All the mouonting points were present in the car for rear seats and seat belts, as the Cabriolets were converted from near complete Coupes when they were built.

If you look around, you will see ltos of different rear seat arrangments in different Cabriolets – this is I think due to the dealer fitting whatever Coupe Seats they could obtain.

    Hi Simon

Wow, the only interesting owner my Cabriolet has had is me…. Oh well maybe one day.

You have a long drive to reach any of the planned Social Events, but I am hoping to hold one later in the year near Bristol (which might be do-able for you). I’m hoping to get to see the SS Great Briton again so might be able to combine that with a meet up.

Otherwise I guess it will have to wait till September to meet you face-to-face at the JLR Classic Works Event.

    Hi All,

One of my cars has been getting mouldy even while stored in a friends garage – I think this is suffering from being in a large cold garage causing condensation in the car. I followed the suggestions earlier in this thread and have put in a dehumidifier and that seems to be working 🙂

The other car that was suffering was parked on the drive under a fitted cover. This obviously was suffering from temp changes and the resutling condensation. I’ve also put a dehumidifer in this and its collecting water on a regualar basis. Norman I took a look at the Coopers of Stortfordwebsite you suggested yesterday – and got distracted looking at lots of things…. What I did spot was a little 400w heater that plugs directly into a socket and has a built in timer. I’ve bought one of these with a view of plugging it in alongside the dumidifer in the car to try and average out the temp and avoid condensation occurring. I’ll let you know how this works out.

Thanks everyone for thier continued input and suggestions.

The coachlines along the tops of the wings and the bonnet bulge really set of the shape of your car.

I’m really pleased to say that work is starting on bringing Pawla back to health at my local Independent Jaguar Garage, where I know they will take great care of her.

I’ve managed to pull together enough funds to enable all the main strategic work to be undertake in one go – sills all round, rear quarter and front quarter repairs, front brake discs and callipers and bits, lots of bushes all around the various suspension parts….

The front cross-frame is badly rusted in one area, which could I guess have been repaired. However I fortunately hadn’t sold on the remains of my donor cabriolet – sorry Richard Collins you almost had her. We’re therefore going to be able to utilise the front cross-member from the donor car which is in pretty good shape.

I’ll add some pictures over the next few weeks as work progresses.

    Hi Alan

Are you going ahead with the Longlife fitted exhausts ?

When you say franchised, does this mean they sell through a local exhaust centre or a ‘man in a van’ / ‘lady in a van’ fit on your drive service ?
