Hi Richard You say yo have 3 XJ-SC’s but you have only listed 2 Vins. One of which is an early car
Previously LHD converted by Jaguar Cars.Where are you in UK.4th April 2017 at 09:07 in reply to: Cabriolet for sale at the NEC Classic Car and Restoration Show #3802Hi Laurence thanks for locating the Elusive number much appreciated
was for sale exchangeandmart.co.uk website on December 04, 2015.
It looks to have an XJS badge on the rear, or is it my eyes?Thats interesting Laurence do we have any one with three Cabriolets?
Hi Thomas many thanks I have had your Cabriolet on the Data Base for many years 2011 I believe June 15th, You must have at some time supplied your boot number I had not spotted until to day it’s a German spec car Must check & see if I have any more 3.6 cars in USA.I have you listed as living in Bellevue Nebraska, perviously Eau Caire Wisconsin,
Regards
Bleasie.Hi Greg
The information I have is the Cabriolet you own is one of two owned by Andrew Weinberg the other one being Vin 148332,
Andrew Owns a company called Jaguar Specialties in Campbell California,& he sold it to Philip Nicholls in Australia. All this information was in the cars notes & Philip Nicholls name had not got added to Vin 144735 Now up dated I can tell you it’s number 4,424 of 5,013 built & built on 04/09/1987.
So for the records RHD conversion & V12 Man 5 spd.
Which Magazine was that I have the data on all 5013 cabriolets built, AH was it the Australian Jaguar Magazine by my mate Les?
If so starting to make sense.Regards
Hi Greg
This photo is from many years ago can you please post some up to date ones
Thanks for signing up I see you have one of Andrew Weinberg’s two cabriolets he owned’
This car was sent from California to Australia in 2004 and lives in Australia now.Has been converted to RHD in Australia.
Kind Regards
BleasieHi Trevor have never seen a 3.6 with Cruise Control I would have thought the car would need to be Automatic to start with,
The V12’s all had it but initially it was proven to be lethal. I was coming off a motor way in the early days 1986/7 and it would not cut out when I hit the brakes quite hair raising & frightening, Jaguar all but called me a liar and said it was not possible. Just a few months later there was a re-call after someone had been killed.
There is nothing in the parts book re parts for 3.6 cruise control.
Pleased to see you are still with us Trevor from around 2011.Hi Fabrizio
You certainly had me confused yesterday.
First thing yesterday morning Vin 130476 popped up for sale when I checked the Vin it was new to the register which made it find #1838. Within about an hour I find you on Face Book and you tell me you have owned it for about a month?????
So welcome and please post some photos other than the ones from the for sale advertBLEASIE
Not much point doing that you can’t change LHD TO RHD & vice versa you need to get the correct wiper motor.
Having had two cars my Ford Zodiac & my XK8 both parking to the right I can’t say it was ever a problem, especialy in the 19 years of owning my XK8
Have you ever tried getting the unit out.I will see if I can find one owners report. Never mind it’s out there somewhere
Have just been doing a search of earlier XJS’s that I created data bases for Jaguar the Pre He XJS ALL parked to the left
as you look at the car irrespective of being LHD OR RHD.
They were the ones you could get the conversion kit for i.e. RHD to LHD as production of the XJS was rocketing would be why they brought out a second unit.BLEASIE.
Just as I thought there were two types of Wiper motors LUCAS & Electrolux which was fitted after Vin 152511 onwards won’t affect your Cabriolet Remember what they say If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
They are a pig to get in & out.
Again as I thought a RHD & LHD were available AEU 1738 RHD & AEU 1774 LHD
However what I did not know if you had an AAU 1496 there was a conversion kit AEU 1731 which includes DAC 2861 harness DAC 2862 delay timing unit and DAC 2863 mounting plate. again not applicable to Cabriolet.s
Remember LHD cars & RHD cars were on the line at the same time so it’s no wonder there was the odd mix up
If you have a Convertible.Vin 152511 DAC 5504 RHD & DAC 5505 LHD FROM VIN 154405 DAC 982 RHD AND DAC 6981 LHD
Photo 494 does not exist Photo 495 does not existThanks Stig.
How long has it taken you to find that out.
I have just discovered that Stephen Tebben USA & Braham Lieberman Australia have consecutive boot numbers.
Braham #1794 build date 15/10/1985 Car number 1113
Stephen #1795 build date 19/03/1986 Car number 1802
almost 5 months later and 689 Cabriolets separates them so you can see how erratic the marking was.
Steve’s other one is #2351 Build date 23/06/1986
Of the Cabriolets we have located 1,836 we only have 265 here is a reminder of where it is located
Laurence
I am 99’9% sure that it’s not possible to alter the way they park.
I am also sure Steve would have changed his if it was.
By the way the problem still exists i.e. which is the correct my X330 & my XK8 both parked in opposite directions
BleasieThanks Richard for the reply for some reason my latest updated Data Base still had your car as Claret Metallic (CEA 310)
I assume you don’t know the one on the right of you could it be Rudy’s
Regards
BleasieHi there Clyde long time no hear & welcome new owner Gary although we had your Cabriolet on the Data base from when it was for sale we did not have an owners name. I notice the location we have is correct.
Regards
BLEASIEHi Laurence
Well I did wonder how long it would take for someone to ask the question we have been asking for over 20 years. No one has ever come up with any thing better than “it’s what was available on the production line at the time” Here are two UK Cabriolets parked side by side followed by Steve Tebben’s 2 US Cabriolets parked side by side. So It’s nothing to do with LHD & RHD just the luck of the draw Concours Judges in the past have tried to deduct points telling the competitor they were parked the wrong way
This item was resolved some time ago

Bleasietry this on your door step

South East London”. Previously found For Sale by Bryan on January 31, 2014 on the carandclassic.co.uk website. Asking UKL 7,500 with 103,000 miles. Seems to still be with the same Owner Tim Palmer, since the photos in the current listing are the same as we have on file. New listing says current location is Greenwich. Listing says “XJ-SC, 3.6 Cabriolet, 1987, E Reg. Beautiful and rare car, automatic, in very good condition, 103K miles. Arctic Blue, Grey Leather, rear seat conversion, lattice alloy wheels. Very solid body, fully waxoyled, restoration in 2008 by Clarke’s Jaguar, drives superbly. FSH since 2008. Central locking & Thatcham Cat 1 alarm. Hood cover included. MOT 12/2013. Tax to 2/14”. Owner had previously emailed Bryan on June 19, 2012 to say he was listing the car For Sale. He is asking UKL 7,500. Has a rear seat conversion. Listing says “Jaguar XJ-SC, 3.6 Cabriolet, 1987 “E” Reg. Beautiful and rare car, automatic, in very good condition, 102,000 miles. Arctic Blue, Saville Grey leather, rear seat conversion, lattice alloy wheels. Very solid body, fully waxoyled, bodywork restoration in 2008 by Clarke’s Jaguar, drives superbly. FSH since 2008. Central locking & Thatcham cat 1 alarm. Hood cover & XJS car cover included. Tax August 2012; MOT September 2012. Location is South East London”. He also said The body and mechanics I would characterise as very good, likewise the interior, although the fabric on the inside of the roof needs a little
work. It certainly has been incredibly reliable. However, I am no mechanic, and so whilst it has been very well looked after by my local specialist garage and Clarke’s since I bought it, I am not someone who can spot any problems on it very easily! I am afraid that a classic car doesn’t sit very easily with my status as a new father, and so I hardly drive it anymore. It is time for someone else to enjoy it. Current Owner, Tim Palmer, contacted Bryan on June 09, 2012 to say he would attend the show at Weston Park. He said “Dear Bryan, Just letting you know that I am bringing my 1987 3.6 auto (Arctic Blue) XJS-C, Reg E 86 DPM to Weston Park on June 24. It would be good to show it with other cabriolets, although I will also be putting it in the sellers’ enclosure. Do let me know of any requests to coordinate a celebration. Kind regards, Tim”. This car was known to be taxed and licensed but we had no other details or photos until he made contact with Bryan. -
