    Hi Mats Johansson

Nice that you have a Cabriolet without too much rust – especially the sills.

It is difficult to re-glue the original headlining back up, because it has a backing that crumbles to pieces (which is why they come down in the first place).

Brugge was very nice, as was Gent which we visited yesterday and walked around the Christmas Markets.

Unfortunately the wind picked up and the New Year fireworks in Brugge were cancelled 🙁

Last year we couldn’t see them as the Fog came down at 23:45 and lifted at 00:15 – think we’ll have to come back next year (third time lucky).

Journey home was smooth with fairly clear roads – though we had a lot of heavy rain driving between London and Birmingham.

Completed just over 2,100 KM / 1,200 Miles on the round trip.

    hi Guy Roelandts

Are you referring to the Chrome Windscreen surround ?   If so, why didn’t you mention it before I came over to Belgium last week – I’ve got a spare I could have brought over for you !!

As David Wardale ‍ says, these are riveted in place – they are easily drilled out and replaced by a small screw.  What you do need to be careful of is fitting, to make sure you don’t put a bend in it as you won’t get a crease out.

    Hi Gerard Harings

The rear window rubbers tend to go hard and crack and perish.

Quite a few members mentioned that they were seeking new rubbers but none were available so I paid for a number to manufactured (reverse engineering from an original).   I’m selling these at cost, so need to sell all of them before I recover my outlay.

    Cheers,

    Laurence

    Hi Gerard Harings

I have been hoping to sell a few more of the rear window rubbers to recover my money before I spent any more.

However, as folk are waiting I think I will just get on and have these Targa rubbers made.  Watch this space and there should be news by the end of January.

    John Mirco ‍is also waiting.

    cheers,

    Laurence

    Hi John May

Your Cabriolet is a lovely green

    Photo 1147

If I do keep and restore the V12 Cabriolet I acquired last year then I think I’ll respray it that shade of green rather than the lighter green it currently is

Try and keep 22nd April free, as we have a Club meet up planned in Gerrards Cross – which hopefully isn’t too far for you to make.

    • Our final visit of the day was The Funicular Lift of Strepy-Thieu.

    Photo 1158

this is one of the largest boat lifts in the world. Similar sized water filled cradles to those used in the Sloping lock are lowered or raised over 240feet / 73 metres.  Building was completed in 2002 at which time it was the tallest in the world.

We then went and visited The Sloping Lock at Ronquieres.

    Photo 1156

This is engineering on a massive scale. The boats literally come up and down the hill in giant water filled cradles on rails.

we visited the Waterloo Battlefield Memorial 1815. The wind was a bit too strong to take a hike up the monument.

    🙂

Short instruction – just click on Visual (just over to the right of the Text Area (looks like a filing cabinet folder tab).  Then click  on the little camera icon (to the right of the little smile in a circle), then follow instructions as you see them.

Paul Roper mentioned this recently on Facebook, so I think I might try and watch it before we head over to the Isle of Man in May 2018.
