        Hi David,

You don’t mention of the Rev counter starts working again once everything is warm and settled.

Mine had a similar but different problem – in that mine would over rev until it was warm and then everything seemed to click into place and all would be well again. I believe the issue with mine was the airflow meter on the carb just simply not getting things right.

            hello Laurence,

this is a niceidea. But I’m not in Belgium at that moment.
I’m aware of 2 cabriolets, mine and one of my friend. Maybe in the Belgian Jaguar Club there are more members. But that should be asked to the administration. A few years ago we organised a commemoration of the XJ-SC.
            regards.

We ventured down from Telford and spent an enjoyable couple of hours at the show.

We met up with Bryan Thomas, and later in the day sneaked our 1993 XJS Convertible down near the show area and parked up alongside his pristine XJS Cabriolet

Fortunately you can’t quite see how dusty our Convertible was next to Bryan’s shiny car – but we had done 310 miles since leaving home on Friday evening (Total trip mileage of 520 across the weekend).

We managed to spend 6 hours walking around the show – we wondered why we were getting tired near the end (hadn’t realised how the time has flown).

We probably spent nearly 1/2 hour at the XJS club stand comparing Graham and Scott’s Cabriolets

If the weather looks good tomorrow we will likely venture over to see this (as we’re down in the Midlands anyway)

Currently, as you know, there’s a few folk around with 2 Cabriolets so I believe there’s a real possibility that someone might have 3 and I want our website to be able to cope.

Sounds like a challenge, but not an impossible one (though the wire harness might take some doing).

If a car had been left outside here in the UK for over a decade your list would be a lot longer, and the top of the list would likely be… complete bodywork rebuild with everything having rusted through in ever conceivable panel 🙁

Successful first UK meeting of members of our XJS Soft Tops website, with 4 members and their cars attending the White Hart, Overton, Hampshire. Thanks for taking the time to venture out today.

We all spent a convivial couple of hours chatting over coffee and biscuits about our cars and various places we’ve been with them, along with various opportunities to meet up again in the future. Turns out that Christina and myself meet Chris at the Weald and Downland Museum a couple of years ago, and Chris had seen our car at the Dunsford Wings and Wheels event last year but didn’t see us.

I was able to pass on to Trevor, Kim and Chris their site Window Sticker which I’ll make available generally to members shortly

Looking forward to this weekend, Saturday at Goodwood Members Day and then Sunday heading for Overton – hope the weather is dry….

If anyone is intending to attend this meet up and hasn’t let me know, could you please either reply to this discussion topic or send me an email – membership@xjs-soft-tops.com

Yes it was Bryan, but necessary….

Probably means either the planned Cabriolet roof/targa panel refurbishment or the interior wood replacement is likely now on hold till later in the year.

Well it came off easily, just drilled out the rivet at the top and the bottom (inside by the door rubber).

No rust to be seen underneath, nor paint pealing off which was good. The windscreen rubber itself is getting a bit perished though.

Seems the person who last fitted the trim couldn’t get it on properly and has bent it, and then they’d put loads of mastic behind it to hold it all on (which it hadn’t done very well).

I stripped out the mastic, and put some washing up liquid in the slot in the windscreen rubber to make it a bit more plyable. I then managed (after more than a few attempts) to feed the trim into the slot and hold it in place while I re-riveted the trim back in place – it kept popping out at the top while I was attending to the bottom, and vice-versa.

Anyway, it’s on and better than it was for now. Need to replace windscreen rubber and possibly find better example of trim to fit back in place.

Venue has been found – we will be meeting at the White Hart Overton, which is near Winchester at 11:00 for coffee and biscuits/cake. Sunday lunch starts at 12:00 if anyone wants to stop (we might before we head off on the journey back up north).

I’ve already had some members get in touch to say they’re coming – please do let me know if you can meet up with us all.

The facelift 4.0 litre models do have Cruise Control as an option< so you might be able to retro fit one to your 3.6 Automatic Trevor. I have a donor 1995 4.0litre XJS auto, with Cruise Control, which at some point in the future I'm hoping to dismantle and reassemble in either my 1994 Couple or possibly the 1993 Convertible - all something for the future at the moment I'm afraid. I had it in mind, that I’d attempt to dismantle the right hand parking wiper assembly on my LHD convertible, and swap it with the left hand parking wiper assembly in my RHD convertible – but I’m guessing nothing is that straight foward….

                                            🙂
