20th September 2017 at 12:16 in reply to: Lunch at Gorse Hill Restraurant – Saturday 7th October #8070Laurence JonesKeymaster
A few folks have let me know that they’re intending to attend on Saturday 7th October 🙂
If you’d like to come, please do let me know in advance as I need to let the Restaurant know numbers.

Laurence JonesKeymasterGlad I was able to assist you with your boot issue.

Laurence JonesKeymasterHi eddiepanton
There was only 1 Cabriolet factory fitted with rear seats – Lady Diana’s.
However, Jaguar dealers provided to their customers the option of having rear seats. These were carried out locally, utilising XJ-S Coupe seats.
You’ll see lots of different variations of rear seats, depending on what the dealers could obtain as much as anything. There will also be some that the owners of the car at some point in its life retro fitted rear seats.

Laurence JonesKeymasterThanks John, Very useful and interesting
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterHi Richard
Unfortunately it’s a no to both the ECU and expansion tanks 🙁
Mark Thorley might be able to help as a friend is breaking an early XJS I believe.

Laurence JonesKeymasterHi Joshua Lyons
Do you mean this :
[one_third]
[/one_third][one_third] [/one_third][one_third_last] [/one_third_last]Yes it is an air deflector for when you have the Targa panel out and the rear hood down.
The XJ-SC Cabriolet were built by Jaguar – there’s a brief article Here about them.
Cheers,
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterNice to see an XJS in a modern advert – looks as good as any modern soft top sports car 🙂
Laurence JonesKeymasterHad news today as to why my V12 Convertible was running rough – the connection of a lead to one of the injectors wasn’t connected properly 🙁
Problem was solved by pushing the connection on properly and the car runs sweet and happy. Wish I’d been able to spot what it was, or even more that the garage in France that took a look at the car had – it would have meant we had a much smoother 800 mile drive home from the Dordogne…
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterHi John Bleasdale
134821 is on the Mini Database you sent me.
Laurence JonesKeymasterLaurence JonesKeymasterI see you are based in the Midlands Christopher, will you be heading to Warwick Castle on Sunday for the Jaguars at the Castle event ? There are a number of us aiming to be there and it would be nice if you could join us.
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterI see you live in Leeds David – hope we’ll be able to meet you at one of the northern meet ups that we have – hopefully we’ll have another soon.
The only one planned at the moment is over in Conwy, North Wales in October
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterWe have quite a lot of members in Belgium now – maybe we should organise a meet up of everyone.
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterLaurence JonesKeymasterGosh John Prentice that is one long story you’ve shared with us – thanks.
That is quite a challenge, not something most folk would undertake – well done you.
Have you kept a record of each stage and photos along the way – I for one would be really interested in hearing it. If we can’t do it ourselves it’s the next nearest thing to enjoy hearing how someone else has – the most I’ve undertaken in recent years is to swap complete interiors from one XJS coupe to another.
Thanks for joining us
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterHi Mark Thorley
That’s a really good question you’ve raised there. Difficult to answer really. I remember the dilemma when I was a child as to whether to keep shinny new toys in their boxes or play with them, and I decided then that I’d play with them as much as possible, treat them with respect and then store them away in their boxes after (that way I got to play with new toy cars every time I fetched them out of their boxes),
Therefore, I’d go for putting the NOS parts on the car, and raising the standard of the car up as high as possible.
What do other members think ?
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterHi Ulf Hanson
I have just spent an hour updating the membership profile forms, to allow 2 Convertibles to be registered 🙂
If you click on My Account on the top menu, followed by XJS Ownership you will now be able to add both Convertible’s details.
Sorry for inconvenience – just needed to add some code to the website.
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterHi Pascal Mathieu
I have just noticed that you have two Convertibles, but the membership registration form is limited to 1. I have now updated this to 2 Convertibles.
If you select My Account on the main menu above, followed by XJS Ownership you will be able to update your ownership profile.
Cheers,
Laurence
Laurence JonesKeymasterHi Gerard Harings
Thanks for joining us here – don’t worry about having ‘two left hands’, it’s the cars that are important here 🙂
