Bob @bob-flint , You could try Cover Systems in Rushden
Hello Gerben
Well that’s an interesting thought. I’ve never changed the gearbox “oil” as it always looks so clean, and rarely have to top it up. Do Mercedes use the GM box at all, or are their boxes always their own manufacture ?
Worth a try anyway.
Thanks
Hello Paul,
Thanks for your thoughts. When cold the revs are a bit high, about 1100, probably the auxiliary air valve. when hot revs are correct at aroung 600.
Sure the clonking is louder at higher revs, although still very much there when hot. Would that solution apply bearing in mind its only when putting it in to reverse ?
I’d better get that air valve changed !
Thanks
Never mind fitting through the sub-frame, per the original; just go straight pipes under the sub-frame.
I did this to two Double Sixes, without any negative consequences, and never grounded them, even with four people in the car. I’ll do the same with my XJS when the time comes.
Interested in what Richard Salt refers to as “the crude mechanical/vacuum system”, are you refering to the V12 ?
Do we mind if we expand the discussion to the V12 vacuum system ? My CC doesn’t function but its not important to me so I haven’t looked at it yet. On the other hand I do like all parts of a car to function properly so maybe this will trigger me to action ! I am hands on.
So Richard please let me/us in to the secret, where are these “tiny brass strip flap valves” and the “big vacuum cylinder” too please.
Many thanks
