Hi,
I am just adding the finishing touches to this month’s newsletter – I will add a request to that for you Claudiu and hope a Club Member can help.
Laurence
Hi Claudiu @kadudu
If only I still had the gearbox too, you could have had this 3.6 engine for sale (mine) for your car – we’d have kept it safe at the garage and helped you organise the shipping.
Oh well, may someone else will buy it soon 🙂
Laurence
Hi Claudiu @kadudu
Your English is pretty good – no problem understanding you at all
Thank you for posting some photos of your Cabriolet
When I checked the records, it shows that your Cabriolet was originally Steel Metallic – Did you choose to paint it Red for your wife ?
LaurenceHi John @bleasie
You may recall we discussed this via email a couple of weeks ago, and I explained that indeed Denis had sold his Cabriolet 124809 and it was now in Malta, but if you checked out Denis’s profile entry it showed as Still owned = No.
In the email you sent me you mention that it was sold to Ron Azzopardi (who is not a member) but above you state Roland Cassar (who is a member).
Does that mean Denis sold it to Ron who has sold it to Roland ?
Laurence
Pascal @forliteur Ce n’est pas un probleme monsieur.
I have corrected the title from BAC5587 to BCC5587 🙂
So, you are looking for the catch for the Hard Top hood. I’m afraid that’s not something I’ve seen available – the Hard Top hoods themselves are quite difficult to obtain.
Sorry, hopefully someone else might be able to help.
Laurence
Hi Pascal @forliteur
I can’t find the part BBC 5587 in the documentation – could you please describe the part and where it is located.
Laurence
Hi Robin @woodsmoke
Thanks for your input.
It’s difficult to add information alongside the topic/reply discussion because there is little room to do so and hard to decide what to add and what not to.
However, what I can do is have a look at enhancing the Profile Page that you route to when you click on the member’s link.
I’ve some ideas, but will give it some thought 🙂
Laurence
It does seem we’ve been having a lot of new members join recently – which is good news 🙂
Laurence
Hi Robin @woodsmoke and John @bleasie
I have just this minute launched the revamp of the Forums for all members. There is a new navigation route via the Discussions option on the main menu bar. This has the following features :
1/ Just click on the Discussions button and you are taken to the list of all discussions (topics/replies) that have been posted on our Club website
2/ Hover over the Discussions button and you see a drop down list
==> Top 10 Most Recent Discussions
==> All discussion topics (same as just clicking on the Discussions button
==> Then the specific Discussion forums – enabling you to focus on just Technical discussionsI’ve standardised these views for all logged in Club Members.
Laurence
Hi Robin @woodsmoke and John @bleasie
I think that due to some many new members joining recently it has made this issue more apparent. I can indeed set up a forum specifically for the welcome messages, and I think (note think) there might be away to present two views :-
1/ All the discussions from all the various Forums, including the welcome forum
2/ All the discussions from all the various Forums, but not including the welcome forum.
You may have both noticed that I’ve amended the menu bar today to provide a drop down of the different discussion forums. This was as part of the move to make the site more friendly to use on a mobile phone or tablet, but I believe I can take the development further to make the whole site experience better (including what’s discussed above).
Thank for the discussion Robin, I’ll work on this over the weekend.
John, the point you make about non reply is valid, though occurs across many forums and multi-media platforms including Facebook. We’ll have to see whether the situation improves once I’ve undertaken the rework.
Cheers,
Laurence
Hi Claudiu @kadudu
Cabriolet’s hood’s metal frame – do you mean the heavy metal bar that has the locking knob and catches, or the chrome assembly that is either side of the hood that controls how the hood folds down ?
Laurence
Hi Thorleifur
I have some of the chrome parts from when I swapped things around to get my cabriolet up together, but they’re rusty.
I’ll see if I can put together a complete set for left and right side.

23rd October 2017 at 10:55 in reply to: Meet up for Sunday Lunch at The Bull Hotel, Gerrards Cross – 22nd October #8909We had a very successful meet up at The Bull, Gerrards Cross, Bucks
We had 3 Cabriolets and 3 Convertibles – which drew a lot of attention parked outside The Bull
There were 10 of us sat down for a lovely Sunday Carvery Lunch in the Hotel’s restaurant – thanks to Scott Shearman @ascotts1 , Graham Vandervelde @dolly2cv , Dave Green @davegreen , Rob Baker @robrobbaker-co-uk and Trevor Kent @trevorkent for bringing their cars and their guests.
Look forward to venturing down in the New Year for another friendly meet up.Laurence
Hi Adam @adabok
1987 means your car was converted by Hess & Eisenhard before Jaguar had finished producing the XJ-SC cabriolets.
I’d be really interested to see some more photos of the roof, to see how much different it is from the early Jaguar built XJS Convertibles (from about 1988 I believe).
