      Hi Denis

I was just wondering whether you’ve had time to look around the Club website and was hoping you might reply to the Welcome Message.

      Cheers,

      Laurence

I’d be happy if I could get mine to looking that good as a result of my own efforts 🙂

          Hi Mike

It was good to see you and your wife at the Meet up at The Old White Beare last Sunday – thanks for coming.

Please keep in touch and watch out for future Meet ups at local Car Shows or another Social Event near you.

          Cheers,

              Hi Stuart

I think we all know how much our Jaguars cost to restore once rust and rot sets in 🙁

Are you doing any of the work yourself or have you left the car in the hands of a local garage ? Do you have any pictures ?

We’ve not had a Club meet up in Scotland, maybe we’ll try and organise one next year – though it depends how far up in Scotland you live !

Thanks I’ve passed the information on.

I’ll write this up as an Information Article for future reference for other Club Members.

                  Hi Peter

It would be good if you could let us see some photos – if you can’t load them up then just email them to me Membership@xjs………

I am not aware of any cables in the Cabriolet hood – the XJS Convertible yes, but not the Cabriolet’s. When the top of the hood is engaged properly with the T-Bar and fully clicked home then both sides should be tight to the rubber seals along the frame that retains the rear side windows.

If this isn’t happening then possibly the caterlever assembly may be assembled incorrectly – just a guess.

I’ve taken a couple of photos.

                  Photo 1097

This white piece should sit firmly against the window frame of the rear side windows.

                  Photo 1098

This shows the catch, either side of the car, that the bar at the top of the hood should engage with. If you don’t have these slotted in on each side I doubt you’d be able to get the top of the hood to engage with the two targa catches, so I’m guessing you’ve not got a problem here.

                  Photo 1090

Bit difficult to see in this photo, but this is what it should like within the car when the hood is fully closed and locked in place. No gap here between the hood itself and the window frame of the rear side window.

Anyone, as Alan said, please let us have a couple of photos and we’ll try and help

                  Laurence

Just back form a very enjoyable Club meet up, where 20 of us all enjoyed a lovely Sunday Lunch together at The Old White Beare, near Halifax.

Even though it was a wet/snowy day we had 3 XJ-SC Cabriolets turn out 🙂

It was Mark Thorley’s Birthday today, so we all woke the restaurant up and sand him “Happy Birthday” and presented him with a Birthday Cake (which he shared).

Thanks to everyone who came, and see you all again sometime in 2018

                      Hi Peter

Thanks for telling us so much about your Cabriolet. I have split off the question around you hood fitting issue into a separate technical topic, so hopefully you’ll get some good help now.

Have you seen we are running a Club trip to the Isle of Man the first weekend in May – it’s a UK Bank Holiday. We have 3 XJ-SC Cabriolets registered and a couple of other Soft Tops members having a think about join us. Maybe you could come across on the Ferry from Dublin and Join us.

Here’s the link if you’ve not found it yet Isle of Man Tour

                      Cheers,

We have around 14 members and guests booked for lunch this Sunday – a mixture of XJS Soft Tops Club members and Greater Manchester JEC Region members.

Looks like there should be at least 3 XJ-SC Cabriolets in attendance – just hope weather is good and we can take some time to look around them.

Please get in touch if you’re planning to come and haven’t let me know yet – I need to resereve space in the Restaurant.

                          Cheers,

There is at least one other member who has one of these Cabriolets – Scott Foxall

I believe there wea a batch destined for US that never go there, and Jaguar themsevles did the LHD to RHD conversion.

Hopefully Scott will join in this conversation and tell you more.

                                      Hello David

I’ve made a start on refurbishing the paintwork on my wheels but haven’t make great progress yet. I’ve had a couple of sessions with NitroMors and that’s taken the majority of the paint off, but there is still loads left in the difficult places. I was thinking of using a little wire brush attachment on an electric drill but that’s as far as I’ve got.

If you’re having problems loading photos up, please just email them to me and I’ll add them to your Photo Album for you (and post them into a Topic/Reply if you would like them). membership@xjs-soft-tops.com I am in discussions with the developer of the Photo Album software I use on the site, to create a single “Add Photo” button that facilitates the upload into the Photo Album and the placement into the Discussion Topic/Reply. Progress is unfortunately slow.

                                        Hi Stig

I have previously been told, that the gauge I the Convertibles and Cabriolets is still calibrated as if it were in the Coupe’s fuel tank – the Convertible and Cabriolet tanks are smaller though. The net effect is that when our smaller tanks are physically full (almost overflowing) the gauge shows about 3/4 full.

I always carry 1 gallon can of fuel in the 3.6 and 4 litre cars and two 1 gallon cans when using the V12

I know of a company in Scotland who do this as a replacement service – that you install yourself on the car – BAS International
