Were all XJS Convertibles V12

Hi,

Apologies for my lack of knowledge, I have seen what is titled a prototype 1985 3.6 manual convertible for sale. However, a classic car dealer has told me that all convertibles were V12 automatic apart from the later cars. I think I read somewhere some early cars (twin headlights) were initially destined for the USA but were then sold in the UK. Could this be one of those and even if that is the case I would have thought US destined cars would have been automatics.

  Apologies I appear to have found my answer below from another thread, although confirmation would be appreciated. Also, the roof is manual are they heavy to put up.

  The sales are a result of the unknown legislation. My view is the convertables would have been introduced earlier, and in my opinion the cabriolet would not exist. I personally prefer my cabriolet with a solid 3.6 engine that does not overheat, that has a manual gearbox that gives you a better driving experience than the V12 automatic variant. This vehicle gives enough speed and comfort that I need.
