June 1986 I eventually purchased my XJ-SC after waiting for the V12 to be launched.I had had a 3.6 on loan when they first came out but was not impressed. I told them (Grimsby Motors) call me when you get a V12 which of course they did. It took them about 3 months to find me a Cobalt Blue one………………………………………………………….. My son on the right not happy he said I should have bought a LOTUS. However the sales man Roger was happy as I had just paid him £26,720 cash. He later told me I was the only customer they had that paid cash. There were only 3 XJ-SC’s purchased in Grimsby the other 2 were leased. I am pleased that I did not take the advice of a certain gentleman at Jaguar Cars, who suggested “If you have have any spare cash John, buy a second Cabriolet and store it as the XJ-SC will be the next Collectable Jaguar”. Well here we are 37 years later and still waiting Ian.
