Mean & Roofless was the newsletter produced by John Bleasdale (known to many simply as “Bleasie”), who established and ran the International Cabriolet Register. At a time when information was scattered and ownership records were fragile, John undertook the painstaking task of documenting how many Cabriolets were built, where they went, and what became of them.
The newsletter was sent to anyone who had contributed information about their own XJ-SC Cabriolet, or about another car they had encountered. It served as both a point of contact and a living record — a way to track changes of ownership, periods of storage, restoration projects, and, inevitably, cars that were sadly scrapped.
Rather than being polished club publications, these newsletters were practical, personal, and deeply informative. They shared updates from the Register, observations from ongoing research, and requests for further information where gaps remained. In doin
