It was time to replace the rubbers around the rear side windows on my XJS Cabriolet. Although they appeared serviceable at first glance, there were no obvious cracks or signs of shrinkage, and for a long time I had assumed they were doing their job.
That changed when I discovered water collecting in the bottom of the locker box on one side of the car. Tracing the leak back to the rear quarter window was straightforward — sliding a finger down the inside of the glass quickly revealed that the rubber seal had deteriorated far more than it appeared from the outside.
