What are the Discussion Forums?
The XJS Soft Tops Club Discussion Forums are the main place for members to ask questions, exchange knowledge and talk to other owners and enthusiasts about their cars.
They are particularly useful when you need help with something specific — perhaps a technical problem, a difficult-to-find part, advice about a repair or simply another owner’s experience of a particular issue.
Because the Club is focused specifically on XJ-SC Cabriolets, XJS Convertibles and related soft-top XJS models, many of the questions discussed are very particular to these cars.
That specialist knowledge is one of the reasons the Club exists. A question that may be difficult to answer in a general Jaguar forum may already have been encountered and solved by another member here.
Why Use the Forums?
Forums are particularly valuable because conversations remain available after the original question has been answered.
A member may ask today why a particular roof seal is leaking, how a switch is wired or where a rare trim component can be found. The answers could still help another owner months or years later.
This gradually creates a searchable archive of real ownership experience rather than relying solely on workshop manuals or information that may disappear amongst social media posts.
Members are therefore encouraged not only to ask questions, but also to reply when they have knowledge or experience that may help somebody else.
Topics and Replies
Forum discussions are organised into Topics.
A Topic starts with a question, piece of information or subject raised by a member. Other members can then add Replies underneath it, allowing the conversation to develop over time.
Before creating a new Topic, it is worth searching the Forums to see whether the same subject has already been discussed.
If you find an existing Topic covering your question, adding a Reply there keeps the information together and makes the discussion more useful for everyone.
If you cannot find anything suitable, create a new Topic.
Choosing the Right Forum
Topics are grouped into broad categories so that members can find relevant discussions more easily.
Don’t worry too much about choosing the perfect category — the important thing is to get your question or information onto the site. If necessary, an administrator can always move a Topic later.
Technical Topics
Mechanical, electrical, restoration, maintenance and repair questions relating to your car.
Been Out and About?
We previously used an Out and About Forum for stories about drives, shows, meetings and places members had visited.
The Club’s Activity Reports are now a much better way of sharing those experiences because they allow you to combine photographs with a proper account of what you did.
If your contribution is mainly about somewhere you have been or something you have done with your Jaguar, consider creating an Activity Report rather than a Forum Topic.
The Forums remain the better choice when you want discussion, advice or answers from other members.
Searching the Forums
Before starting a new Topic, try searching for a few words that describe the problem or subject you are interested in.
The Forum search looks across existing Topics and Replies and can often uncover useful conversations that have already taken place.
Try several different terms if your first search does not produce what you need. For example, a member searching for information about a roof leak might also try terms such as seal, hood, targa or weatherstrip.
Finding and adding to an existing discussion helps keep the Club’s accumulated knowledge organised and easier for future members to discover.

To create a new Topic, add Replies and make full use of the Forum features you need to be logged in as a member.
