Introduction

Description:

Jaguar always had a special place in my Heart, my parents got married in a Jaguar mark VII in '56 and my Grandfather used to drive Jags when I was a boy. My first memory must have been in 1964 when he drove a Green mark II and the last Jag he owned was a brown XJ6 mark 1. My dad always told me 'if you want to own and drive a Jaguar be sure to have two mechanics' and he always drove Volvo's and BMW's.

Just before retiring as a GP in the Netherlands I could use savings to buy my first Jag, after testdriving a XJ SC I was impressed with the looks and smooth driving of a V12 with automatic so read all articles I could find searched the internet for some time. Since I live in Europe a was looking for a Jag with a kilometer odometer and found one in Galgary, Canada and showing just under 100K kilometer.

After a standstill of 10 years it was brought back to life by a local Jaguar Mechanic and 15K Canadian was spent to get it back on the road and some 3000 km added since. This was looking good and after watching the one hour video by the seller on Hemmings, I took the plunge and bought the car. Shipping the car to the Netherlands went well and there were no technical hick ups to get the car licensed so I was driving it in the Fall of 2023 and was very pleased with it. I had to renew the soft top and was able to get a Mohair replacement at Aldridge UK.

The first Journey was in the Spring of 2024 to Sweden, we drove it on the German Autobahn for the first time with the plates in the trunk and the soft top up we could drive 170 km an hour without a problem and fortunately the weather was sunny and throughout our entire Holiday we could drive open.
