12 days in Scotland

This diary recounts member David Jones's twelve-day touring holiday through Scotland in an XJ-SC Cabriolet. Covering around 1,200 miles, the journey combined relaxed long-distance driving with visits to historic towns, scenic landscapes, museums, and a few unexpected discoveries along the way.

The tour covered approximately 1,200 miles over twelve days, proving once again that the XJ-SC Cabriolet is exceptionally well suited to long-distance touring when given the chance.

Day 1 — Saturday

We met up at Moffat with my sister Margaret and brother-in-law Geoff, who promised to travel at a sedate 70 mph — which, remarkably, he did. We enjoyed a very good run north to Perth, stopping to explore the town and have something to eat before continuing on to our overnight stay near Bridge of Earn.

Our accommodation was a superb B&B with welcoming hosts who recommended local places to eat and drink. After a good meal, we sampled a couple of local pubs and inevitably attracted the interest of a friendly local
