Has anyone any experience of the hard top?
I have one, unopened in its original box, or at least I am assured there is one in there, it has sat in the garage for 15 years. I am thinking of fitting it, a shame I know, it will reduce open-air driving pleasure, but thought I might make more use of the car if it was on.
What’s it like when fitted? Noisy , squeaky, leak prone?
Grateful for any comment,
thanks
Lloyd

Merry Christmas, Lloyd.
When I bought my car a few years ago, it came with both tops. The hardtop was attached to the car, and the softtop wrapped in plastic. I have been so pleased with the hardtop that I have looked at the other top briefly, and then wrapped it back up.
My hardtop makes no noise, does not leak, and I like the appearance of the car. If you want the “wind in your hair” experience, just remove the targa panels, and roll down the windows. Additionally, my car is quiet at speed, and the A/C works well with the hardtop in place.
I would hope that there is no difference in colour , considering that your boxed top has not seen the light of day for so long.
I will try to post a photo, if I can remember all the steps involved.
All the best, Dave.

Laurence, I read it. I read it again.Better at working on Jags than computers .
Perhaps I will print out the instructions, and then I can read all the steps as I go.

🙂
Short instruction – just click on Visual (just over to the right of the Text Area (looks like a filing cabinet folder tab). Then click on the little camera icon (to the right of the little smile in a circle), then follow instructions as you see them.

Thank you, Laurence, I knew you could make it work. Easy for you, not so much for this old Liverpudlian!
Regards, Dave.

hi all,
I hope you all had a great Christmas, and thanks for your comments.
also, thanks for perseverence to post a photo.
I am having the targa panels recovered, so all should be well, I think I may go for the change!
Happy New Year,
Lloyd

You guys have probably already discussed this before but what is the flap above the mirror on US cars? Cheers

Hi John, yes, that sounds right. I had a SD1 VDP once that had a wind deflector as part of the sun roof which spanned the width of the sunroof. I wonder how effective such a small deflector is? Was this an option on all cars or just US? Regards, Martin

Hi Martin It was available as “Optional Extra” world wide as far as I am aware certainly UK.

an update on fitting my hard top.
It booms inside with the targa panels removed, and its not so quiet, I’m aware of it being there without the ‘boom’. The booms comes in at about 60mph.
It’s relieved when the windows are fully open.
Pity, as it looks good. But in reality, I preferred it before, the problem was the pram hood was looking scruffy and I didn’t want to drop cash on it.

Hi,
I have a hardtop for my xjsc with no hardware to attach it to the car. All diagrams show one catch. I’m assuming there are two? Does anyone know where to find the hardware and does anyone have pictures of how they attach to the car and hood?
Thanks Alan
