        Hi all

Has the Jaguar XJS v12 5.3 got a limp home mode ???

We’ve just driven 250 miles in one go on motorway, all nice and smooth. Then as we pulled off we were hit with intense smell of petrol 🙁

As we pulled to a stop in a lay-by the engine died.

Discovered with the aid of a passing Frenchman that the fuel pipe in the boot was split and was pumping petrol into the spare wheel sump, and then draining down a hole in the bottom.

We cut the split piece of pipe off, reconnected it and the engine restarted.

However, it is running rough – no real power and feels like it’s gently missing as we drive along.

Any help appreciated, as we’re currently 800 miles from home

        Laurence

            Thanks Mark,

The car is running a little better today, as has regained its power. However on slow running/idle it is running rough/lumpy.

Hope it will sort itself out over the next few days as we explore the Dordogne.

Had news today as to why my V12 Convertible was running rough – the connection of a lead to one of the injectors wasn’t connected properly 🙁

Problem was solved by pushing the connection on properly and the car runs sweet and happy. Wish I’d been able to spot what it was, or even more that the garage in France that took a look at the car had – it would have meant we had a much smoother 800 mile drive home from the Dordogne…
