Thanks Laurance, must be good to be so IT capable – more difficult for oldies like what I is! Trust you are keeping well.

IT not being my forte, no idea why Kop Hill seems t have covered my message – in essence it says ‘will be there Sunday with my Softie!
Another 1100 miles on JEC Ireland tour (10 XJS’s this year, 50 cars in all, one XK120, 2 Mk 11’s, 2 E-Types et al) just completed. Retro cruise control still 100% !
However lost headlight flasher and horn during trip – not being a bonnet-lifter as I’ve always embarrassingly admitted to all, I can only assume a fuse problem. Next problem – what’s a fuse and where is it!!
Happy Softing !

In the sales invoice from Mann Egerton dated 21/09/87 the price for my XJ-SC 3.6 Auto RHD was 19,866 including ‘factory fitted extras’.
There was then a charge of 434.71 with a sales code ‘DI’ – I wonder if that was for the back seats but maybe something else entirely.
I remember with the initial paperwork when I bought her in 1990 there was a slip of paper saying something about insurance claim non-liability as the seats were not standard but, sadly, this bit of paper seems to have disappeared from my file.

Welcome indeed fellow ‘Cabbie’. Hope you enjoy our rather special club!
Cheers,

Thank you Bleasie for all your much appreciated work over the years. Your figures enabled me to show off over the tannoy on the start line at Kop Hill recently how rare a RHD 3.6 auto XJ-SC is before flooring the pedal!

13th October 2017 at 08:57 in reply to: Meet up for Sunday Lunch at The Bull Hotel, Gerrards Cross – 22nd October #8749I shall certainly bring my Cabbie along! Great hotel, easy to find on main A4o – was once staff accommodation for notorious ‘hanging’ Judge Jeffreys who lived just up the road at Bulstrode. The carvery lunch includes live jazz! See you there I hope.
Trevor KentDespite my pathetic IT skills, I hope I have found a link to the Miss Dior advert. Sadly not a Cabbie but c’est la vie!

Any one going to Kop Hill, I’ll be in the paddock on Sunday but sadly not chosen for a ‘run’ as too young!

Sadly can’t do Warwick!

Would like to come but as my lady is a house parent in a boarding school she may be on duty. Will not know rota until beginning of that term.

In the end 1300 miles in France and Belguim, CC still working perfectly! Local village Classic Car show today but seemingly 2″ rain already fallen this morning so doubt I or anyone else will risk it, shame!!
Sorry to read about the ‘no use’ one, join the club. At least we have our lovely cats to compensate!
Trevor
Hi Bleasie,
I was indeed there but by invitation to the parade in my other, as they were short of a Daimler V8 so my 1966 obliged!
All the best.

1250 miles in under a week on the JEC Ireland rally and the cruise control worked flawlessly. Shortly another 1500 or so in France and Belgium – what a delight to give the right leg and knee a rest every so often! Have a great summer all softies!
Well it’s finally been completed. Despite parts supplier assuring me and Powerbell (Taplow) that the first delivery contained everything needed to fit a 1987 XJ-SC 3.6 Auto RHD this turned out not to be so, and a further bit had to be purchased! Total cost about £750 and full marks to the patience shown by Powerbell doing a job they had never done before (and I doubt anyone else has either). Doing JEC Ireland Rally soon – that should give the system a good test!!
Only partial success – gizmo fitted close to accelerator cable in engine bay (as you can tell, I’m no bonnet-lifter sadly) but then discovered another bit needed to be fitted to speedometer, ordered from Bridgwater (shame they didn’t tell me about this extra) now awaiting further fix at Powerbell.
Bridgwater Electronics kit for cable accelerator version purchased. Powerbell booked to fit next week – fingers crossed. Bleasie tells me a faulty Cruise Control nearly killed him once – but it was standard not retro-fit, so hope I shall be able to post here for many more years!!!
Eureka, having poured over my nearside boot gutter 4455 is revealed for my 1987 XJ-SC RHD 3.6 Auto. Bleasie will be ecstatic! Trevor Kent
Much regret not available but enjoy!! Trevor Kent
