Welcome Peter
Thank you for joining as a Cabriolet Member of the XJS Soft Tops Club, I hope you find the site interesting – feel free to participate in any new or past discussion topics.
If you could reply to this topic and tell us how you discovered our website, a little about your Cabriolet, and even something about your enthusiasm and interest in them.
You have two Photo Albums created for you on this site, it would be great if you could add a photo or two of your Cabriolet for all members to see.

Hello Laurence
Thankyou for your welcoming email much appreciated, i was browsing the net and i wanted to join a jaguar car club as I purchased a 1986 xjsc in the U.k 7 months ago, mine is a Cabriolet with the targa roof with rear fold down section roof 5.3 Litre V.12.
I’ve always wanted one as my father had one in the 1980’s although a coupe it was his pride and joy, I have very fond memories of the car and i promised myself one day i would own one, i was searching for quite a while, but i’m glad I waited as I got my favourite colour which is metallic grey with saville grey leather interior. The car was in good condition when I purchased it, but my mission is to make as good as I possibly can. I have had minor rust issues on the body professionally addressed, ive also replaced sections of chrome on the bumpers front and back, all brakes and handbrakes replaced, new waterpump, wheels sand blasted and powder coated.
With the leather interior freshened up she is looking really and drving great its only a weekend car for pleasure , i have her parked in my garage when not in use, the car generates very positive attention as I live in Dublin in ireland and they are very rare over here. There is seventy two tousand miles on her, and the previous owner had her for a long time , over here when any car hits 30 years old they are classed as vintage, so it makes the motor tax and Insurance very affordable, the car must be m.o.t’d every 12 months as cars only pre 1980 are exempt from m.o.t over here. I have the car just finished and I’m hoping to meet some new enthusiasts like myself on the XJS as I think they are one of the most beautiful cars that was ever made.
Thank-you and i look forward to developing with the club in the future.

Hi Peter @maher
Thanks for telling us so much about your Cabriolet. I have split off the question around you hood fitting issue into a separate technical topic, so hopefully you’ll get some good help now.
Have you seen we are running a Club trip to the Isle of Man the first weekend in May – it’s a UK Bank Holiday. We have 3 XJ-SC Cabriolets registered and a couple of other Soft Tops members having a think about join us. Maybe you could come across on the Ferry from Dublin and Join us.
Here’s the link if you’ve not found it yet Isle of Man Tour
Cheers,
Laurence
