Hi I am very new to owning a soft top and have a British Racing Green 1990 XJS 5.3 Convertible with 71k on the clock. I am in Brisbane Australia. I have only just purchased the car and have been sorting out some minor issues given it was a “barn find” having driven 900kms in 9 years! We have an issue of the hydraulic rams for the soft top leaking and have managed to find replacement teflon seals but the shafts apparently are a bit pitted. My research suggests that it is very very hard to find bits and pieces for the soft top and that Jaguar didn’t make replacement parts? Does anyone know how to get hold of a really good set of used or aftermarket rams where I don’t have to mortgage my house to buy them and get them sent over here? Thank you.

          Hi Shane

Have you considered having them hard chromed & ground to size? I don’t know what it would cost these days but many years ago I had some motorcycle fork legs done that I couldn’t get replacement for at a reasonable price.
