  Hi everyone, I am looking for the rear chrome boot (trunk) badge for my Cabriolet that reads XJ-SC. Can anyone help me locate one please? Thank you

  I suspect I may have sold the last one in existence a few months ago still in its British Leyland box having had it in
  my desk drawer since 1986 I decided to get rid could have sold it 10 times over.
  Just keep looking damaged ones bring £100.00

  Well well well, I came across a breaker on EBay who offered me this badge for £40.00 after I enquired about one being available on a Cabriolet he was parting out and he said he would try his best to remove it from the car. Despite several voice calls and messages his last replies were that he wasn’t hopeful it could be removed but would try his best and let me know. I never got a reply after that. The breaker has now listed the badge for sale on EBay for £99.00 + postage. That was one dirty trick !!!

  Yes, has been out of stock now for almost twenty years! I tried to obtain one in October 1999 to no avail as were none available in stock at Jag or Unipart..

  Well despite the above eBay sellers let down, I’m now in possession of this badge, not one,but two of them!! Both have at some point been repaired where the letters join each but are still correct and complete. Only upon very close inspection can I see the join has been superglued back together. Presumably upon removal this happened. The little rear pegs are also missing, no great drama. Plus they are in need of the chrome effect paint reapplying due to general wear etc.
  Main thing is that i am no longer missing a very important correct boot badge

  The main problem with getting one from a breaker is they manage to break off the pins which means you would need to glue them on or make a backing of double sided sticky tape.I have seen some attempts at refurbishing them with silver foil they stick out like a sore thumb. Based on all I have read mine that I sold for £100.00 was a bargain. As Robin says way back when none available even Jaguar Heritage among the 100’s of badges in the cupboard in the Archives not a one to be found as there were only 5013 cars built they would not be as plentiful as say the XJS badge which you can easily get for circa £20.00

  Does anyone know just how the XJ-SC badge is mounted? I’d like to remove mine for a bit of renovation but I’m hesitant to “lean” on it without better knowledge. I assume there must be some pins that push into holes\grommets in the body? My badge is definitely not stuck on as it is loose – it will move a millimetre or so if you wobble it. Are the pins just straight? I have another spare badge but the pins are broken off on it. This happens easily? Anyone with experience of removing\attaching badges? Cheers.

  Hi Alex, yes they have straight plastic pegs on the rear of the badge that pass through holes in the boot lid. The badge is then secured in position by pushing a fixing grommet over each peg. The grommet is made of metal and has three fingers to it if that makes sense. Careful removal of these will hopefully keep your pegs intact so refitting as a matter of the opposite procedure. The part number for the grommets is BAC1681. Whether they are still available i don’t know.

  Alex,
  I have taken pictures of the rear of the badge and highlighted in a dab of white the location of each plastic peg which will have the securing metal grommet attached. Simply carefully pull these off the pegs with thin nose pliers or using the edge of thin flat headed screwdriver gently tease them off. A little WD40 on each peg prior will help reduce the risks of breaking them off
