My Cheshire Cat – by member Kevin Bishop

Article by Kevin Bishop

I joined the XJS Soft Tops Club in December 2019, having just rescued mine from 10 years locked away in a lonely garage never having turned a wheel for 10 years.

She is a 1987 XJ-SC V12 automatic, and the registration documents say she’s gold but I haven’t managed to establish the shade . She’s only covered 55,000 miles verified by the service record book.

So far I have had all the fluids changed and put it in for an MOT, which it failed on a broken coil spring and a few other minor bits – not to bad after 10 years standing.

I am looking forward to getting started on a rolling restoration and I will keep members informed of progress.

Hopefully I will be able to attend some of the XJS Soft Top Club meet ups across the summer.

I am also a member of the JDC Cheshire Area (Jaguar Drivers Club) and in the past we have organised our Cheshire Cats concourse event at Gawswort Hall, near Macclesfield. If any of your members would like to attend these events they will be made very welcome and will endeavour to notify the Club of future dates date in due course.
